Annual Meeting Reminder

We have had another vandalism occurrence in the Forest and I need to pass this on:

Hello all,
I just wanted to let you know that my mom and dad’s home ( The Apters, 403 Hempstead Rd )was vandalized this past Saturday night. Portions of their fence that line the driveway were ripped out and thrown across the street. In addition, someone cut apart a large portion of their Christmas lights and strewn them about. I just wanted to pass this along so that you are aware.

After reading about this, I would hope you want to attend our annual meeting where we will resurrect our Neighborhood Watch Program.

Officer Alan McDowell, Jr. , CPS of the James City County Police Department: Community Services Unit, will explain the program and answer any questions you have. We have a few volunteers who have stepped up to lead but we will definitely need more assistance to make this program work. Please contact John@MrWilliamsburg.com if you are willing to assist.

Thank you to Elizabeth Friel, Dean Hovermale, Leslie & Paul Reeser, Zuleika Hedrick, and Mary Berry ( don’t tell her husband she volunteered) for stepping up and volunteering.

Thanks also to Susan Farr who has volunteered for our vacant Treasurer board position.

Other issues that will be addressed at this annual meeting include :

The budget and board appointments
The possibility of NO lifeguards at the pool in 2010
Deed restrictions for a mandatory Homeowners Association
Clubhouse rental fees
Entrance repairs

We hope to see everyone there. Remember, you must be a member to vote on these issues. You can join the Homeowners Association at the meeting if you wish. Come to the meeting, be heard and have a vote!

House Break in Seton Hill/Windsor Forest

Mary Lyons next door to us called this evening and asked me to help spread the word that their house was broken into sometime between Tues and today (Sunday). They are not sure how the thieves entered the house but the police have been there and dusted for prints. A TV, PlayStation and some cash were stolen. I only have a limited number of neighbor emails and hope that you all can spread the word.

We need someone to head up our Neighborhood Watch Program

James City County Police will assist us in resurrecting our Neighborhood Watch Program. There is a Crime Prevention Officer assigned to our area who is more than happy to assist. We just need one person to take this on.

What is Neighborhood Watch?

In essence, Neighborhood Watch is a crime prevention program that stresses education and common sense .It teaches citizens how to help themselves by identifying and reporting suspicious activity in their neighborhoods. In addition, it provides citizens with the opportunity to make their neighborhoods safer and improve the quality of life. Neighborhood Watch groups typically focus on observation and awareness as a means of preventing crime and employ strategies that range from simply promoting social interaction and "watching out for each other" to active patrols by groups of citizens.

URGENT NOTICE

I just received this from Dean Hovermale who wanted to alert all neighbors:

My name is Dean Hovermale and I live at 34 Berkshire Road. I wanted to let you know that I put in a police report on Thursday morning that my car had been stolen sometime in the middle of the night between 9:30pm and 4:20am. It was parked at the end of my drive way next to the house with the keys in it (not a smart move on my part, but I’ve have always felt safe in the neighborhood and did not think twice about it). What this indicates is that someone or group is walking through the neighborhood and checking for unlocked cars (or other valuables) during the night. I would like for you, if possible, to share this information with the association and any neighbor you can so that no one else will be a victim.
